Brandon first became interested in drifting at age 15. Once he was old enough to drive, he worked multiple summer jobs to buy his first S13. After owning a few different S-chassis’ by the age of 19, Brandon and his dad began building what is now his competition car. It was extremely secretive build and it took a little over a year to put all the pieces together. He unveiled his LS2-powered S13 coupe at an event midway through the 2014 season. This was first time drifting on the track.
In 2015, Brandon competed in the Evergreen Drift ProAm series taking 2nd place at round one. Due to rear end issues he missed round two and round four but still managed to finish 5th overall. Brandon and his family are no strangers to motorsports with his older brother racing motocross his entire life and currently racing in Monster Energy Supercross series. Brandon’s passion and attention to detail can be found throughout all of S-chassis cars he owns.
He plans to compete in the full 2016 Evergreen Drift ProAm season which also means he will be at both DriftCon events. This year he will have a Winters quick change rear end in the car before round one. His long term plans are to compete in Formula Drift and potentially the Irish Drift championship with Track Day Performance being one of his major sponsors. A quick-rising talent in the sport, Brandon Schmidt is definitely one to keep your eye on.
