Dio Ortiz II

Dio had always been interested in cars growing up but it wasn’t until he started pursuing a career in the automotive industry that he discovered drifting for the first time. Shortly after graduating high school with his AA he packed up everything he owned and started attending UTI Sacramento for a degree in their automotive/Nissan program.

He bought his first S13 in California mostly to use as a project to get more hands on experience. After swapping his first SR20 into the car he was hooked on building and started looking for ways to have some fun with the car. After he graduated he moved back to WA and got a job at Nissan as a technician. In the quest for rare JDM parts he reached out to his parts department (nissanparts.cc) and started begging Russell for Japanese parts. He started stocking more and more hard to find parts and it was then that they decided to start advertising with Dio’s car. This was his first sponsorship.

He started driving competitively at sanctioned SCCA events. It was at one of these events that he ended up blowing his motor and getting his car towed home by Erich Hagen. It turned out that him and Erich were neighbors and this was the beginning of their tandem team.

Dio got involved in drifting and began competing in the Grassroots competition at Evergreen Drift in 2012. After a couple years he moved up to ProAm and he’s currently in his fifth year of drifting competitively.
