Zach started drifting two years ago shortly after acquiring his first RWD car – a MK3 Toyota Supra. He got his first taste for drifting on wet pavement in the Supra but it wasn’t until he purchased an S12 that he learned the basics of car control in the dry as well as working on his own car.
After wrecking the S12 beyond repair he moved onto an S13 chassis where he started competing in Grassroots at Evergreen Speedway. Despite crashing the car after 3 events he still placed 10th overall in Grassroots. This led him into the car he currently drives, an S13 Nissan 240SX with a converted S14 Kouki front end conversion – commonly referred to as an S13.4.
This car has been swapped with a mild 1JZ-GTE engine and an R154 transmission. His goals for 2016 are to place in the top of the ProAm series so he can get his Formula Drift Pro2 license. Obtaining the license is more of an achievement at this point as he wants to continue to drive for fun in the future with less of an emphasis on competition.
